Kennelwood has a great opportunity for you to join our team as a Bather/Brusher. A Bather/Brusher's primary duties are to properly prepare, bathe and finish pets by using practices that minimize the pet's stress and promote a positive grooming experience.  You do not have to have previous bather/brusher experience.  You simply need to have a great love of animals and don't mind getting wet, hairy and receiving lots of puppy love!

 

HIRING LOCATION:


You must be able to groom cats too. You must have a flexible schedule during the week with availability on weekends and around the holidays.
Hours - 7am until last appointment

DUTIES:
As a Bather/Brusher duties includes, but is not limited to, bathing and brushing, clipping nails, cleaning paw pads, anal excretions, bows & bandanas, brushing teeth,, cleaning and other services.

Safety is emphasized in all aspects of:

  • Pet handling procedures 
  • Bathing techniques 
  • Clipping and filing of nails 
  • Brushing teeth 
  • Sanitation and sterilization of equipment 
  • Proper ear cleaning 
  • Anal gland expression 

QUALIFICATIONS
A keen instinct for animal safety, proper procedure and loving commitment for the pets is also required. It is essential you are able to regularly stand for extended periods, able to walk dogs of all sizes on a leash, occasionally lift at least 40-60 pounds, bend, stretch and work in and around pet hair and dander. Must also be very observant, have strong decision-making skills. Prior experience in a veterinarian's office or hands-on work pet care environment is a PLUS.

Employees will be exposed to animals/pet dander and nuts contained within pet treats and food. Allergies to animals, pet dander or nuts may not be accommodated in any position directly working in boarding, camp, training or grooming.
